In a recent advancement to the case of recruitment of 69,000 assistant teachers, the Uttar Pradesh Prathmik Shiksha Mitra Association has moved to the Supreme Court. The decision has been taken against the Allahabad High Court’s verdict of keeping higher cut-off marks in Super TET for recruiting assistant teachers in the Basic Education Council schools in the state. The petition has been filed by the Supreme Court advocate Gaurav Yadav, to seek a stay on the Allahabad High Court verdict. Earlier, a caveat was filed on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh Government in the Supreme Court to not issue any order related to the case without hearing its side.
On 6th May 2020, Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court declared the Super TET Result (UP Assistant teacher) with the final cut off marks i.e. 60% for Reserve category & 65% for Gen Category. It cleared the way to continue the recruitment process of Assistant Teachers. The cut-off was a matter of dispute. In this case, the Allahabad High Court had supported the decision of the state government to increase the cut-off marks. Also, the recruitment process needs to be completed within 3 months as it is stuck from the past one and a half year.
Over 4 lakh candidates await the result of Assistant Teachers recruitment. Clearing the cut off would make them eligible to apply as an assistant teacher in various state schools. On January 7, 2020, the minimum qualifying marks for the written exam were raised by the government from 45% to 65% for general category candidates and from 40% to 60% for reserved category candidates.
