Mathematics Quiz

Dear reader here we are providing some
question on quant aptitude which will helpful in your upcoming exam.
1.     The
average weight of 4 men is increased by 3kg when one of them who weighs 120 kg
is replaced by another man. What is the weight of the new man?
(a) 125 kg                                      (b) 150 kg
(c) 122 kg                                      (d) 132 kg

2.      The
average of marks obtained by 120 candidates in a certain examination is 35. If
the  average mark of passed candidates is 39 and that of the failed candidates
is 15, what is  the number of candidates who passed the examination?
(a) 90                                               (b) 85
(c) 100                                             (d) 120
3.     The sum of two numbers is 8 and their
product is 15. The sum of their reciprocals is
(a)15/8                                            (b) 8/15
(c) 23/5                                          (d) 2/5
4.   A number, when divided by 221, leaves
a remainder 64. what is the remainder of the same number is divided by 13?
(a) 0                                               (b) 1
(c) 11                                             (d) 12
5.     A number increased by
20% and then decreased by 20%. Finally the number is:
(a) Decreased by 4%                    (b)
increased by 4%
(c) Does not change                     (d)
decreased by 0.4%
6.     Two number x and y are respectively
20% and 50% more than a third number x is how month percent of y?
(a) 30 %                                        (b) 45%
(c) 60 %                                        (d) 80%
7.      A sum of money amounts to Rs500 in 2 year and Rs540 in 3
years at compound interest  per annum then the rate of interest
     per annum is
(a) 6%                                           (b)
7%
(c) 8%                                           (d)
10%
8.      Three pipes A, B and C can fill a tank
in 6 hours. After working at it together for 2 hours, C is closed and A and B
can fill the remaining part in 7 hours. The number of hours taken by C alone to
fill the tank is:
(a) 10                                              (b) 14
(c)
12                                              (d) 12
1.
(d)
If the average is increased by 3 kg,
Then sum of weights increases by 3 x 4
= 12 kg.
And this increase in weight is due to
the extra weight included
due to the inclusion of new person.
Weight of new man = 120 + 12 = 132 kg.
2.
(c)
Let the number of passed candidates be
x.
Then total marks = 120 x 35 = 39x +
(120 – x) x 15
à
4200 = 39x + 1800 – 15x
à24x = 2400, So x = 100
3.    (b)

Let the numbers are x and y
x + y = 8 and x. y = 15
Sum of the reciprocals = 1/x+1/y = y
+ x/x y = 8/15
4.     (d)
221 is divided by 13
required remainder = remainder by
64/13 = 12
5.
(a):
Final change = a2/100 à (20*20)/100,  4% decrease
6.    (d):
Let
the third number is 100
The number
x = 120 and the number y = 150
x is how
much percent of y = x*100/y = 120*1oo/150
= 80%
7.    (c):
The rate% = difference
of amounts*100 /first amount
=
(540-500)*100/500,
= 40*100/500 = 8%
8.
(b):
(A+B+C) – (A+B) can give you the answer.
(A+B+C) =1/6 and (A+B+C) in 2hrs=2/6 and remaining part 1-2/6=2/3.
So (A+B) in 7 hrs is 2/ (3*7) =2/21.
1/6-2/21=1/14 so answer is 14.
