(c) 26 km/hr                                (d) 28 km/hr
ANSWERS WITH SOLUTION
1.
(b):
Let the numbers are x and y
x + y = 8 and x. y = 15
Sum of the reciprocals = 1/x+1/y = y
+ x/x y = 8/15
2.
 (d):
221 is divided by 13
required remainder = remainder by
64/13 = 12
3.
(a):

x11+1 is divisible by(x+1)
Remainder
is 0
4.
(a):

Power of (122)173 is odd number
unit
digit in the product of (122)173 = 2
5.      (a):
Final change = a2/100 à (20*20)/100, 4%
decrease
6.      (c):
Let the number be x
Then, error =
(5/3)x – (3/5)x =(16/15)x
Error% = [(16x/15)
/(5x/3)] * 100% = 64%
7.     (d):
Let
the third number is 100
The number
x = 120 and the number y = 150
x is how
much percent of y = x*100/y = 120*100/150  = 80%
8.    (d):
Let
the number is X
13%
of the x-5% of x = 16
∴13*x/100
– 5*x/100 = 16
àX
= 200
9.     (b):
The weight of new man = weight of ex person
+2.5*8
= 56 + 20 = 76 kg
10.  (a)
:
By the formula:  2UV/U+V
 Average speed = (2 x 20 x 30) / (20 + 30) = 24
km/hr
