Dear Readers,
TET(Teacher Eligibility Test) is an minimum eligibility entrance exam for teachers who want to become teacher. It is held by both the central and state governments in teaching field. TET has two papers i.e. Paper 1 & 2. Paper 1 is the primary level exam (Class 1st to 5th) for the candidates who want to teach at the primary level and paper 2 is for the upper primary level (Class 6th to 10th) for the candidates who want to teach at the upper primary level.TET Exam is mandatory for becoming a government teacher in India.
Here, we are providing eligibility criteria, exam pattern, examination schedule and others of TET exam of all states.
TET 2019 Eligibility Criteria:
Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V: (Primary Stage):
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.E.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage):
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
OR
Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.E.Ed).
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year B.Ed. (Special Education).
Age Limit for TET Exam 2019
- Minimum Age Limit – 18 years
- Maximum Age Limit – 35 years
Exam Pattern
All questions in TET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. Each carrying one mark and there will be no negative marking.
There will be two papers of TET.
- Paper I will be for a person who intents to be a teacher for classes I to V.
- Paper II will be for a person who intents to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.
Note: A person who intents to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Penalty for Wrong Answers
There is no penalty for any wrong answer.
Validity of TET Certificate
The Validity Period of TET qualifying certificate for appointment will be depend on State government . It can be 5 or 7 years for all categories. There is no restriction on the number of attempts, a person can take for acquiring a TET Certificate. A person who has Qualified TET may also appear again for improving his/her score.
