Teaching is one of the most noble and reputed professions which is highly popular among both men and women across the globe. Teachers are responsible for imparting education and knowledge in a strategic manner among students at school and university levels. It is the only profession that can help in creating an effective and sound education system for a country and this is the reason why more and more students are getting attracted towards teaching.

You should have a B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree if you intend teaching in Indian schools. We all know there’s no set pattern or uniformity in the requisite educational qualifications for the candidates applying for a teacher’s job. B.Ed. is a mandatory qualification required for teaching in all Government Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Army/Air force Schools. Also many CBSE/ICSE private schools in the North do prefer B.Ed. qualified teachers rather some of them do not entertain non B.Ed. teachers at all. If at all they would hire you, salaries would differ from those who are B.Ed qualified. If you have to work as a teacher in a school it’s advisable to acquire a B.Ed. degree. B.ed is a degree programme in teaching which makes you eligible to teach class from 6th to 12th.

To become a teacher in India, you must have a graduation degree followed by a compulsory course known as Bachelors of Education. The duration of this course is two years. If you also want to become a teacher, then pursuing Bachelors of Education from a top B.Ed. college in India is mandatory for you.

B.Ed. Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for B.Ed., these necessary qualifications are to be fulfilled:

  • Graduation (B.Sc., B.Com, B.A) from any recognized University with minimum 50% score.
  • Master’s Degree in Science/Social Sciences/Humanity/Commerce with minimum 50% marks will be eligible.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Mathematics and Science with at least 55% marks or any equivalent qualification will also be eligible.

After completing B.Ed course, candidates are eligible to be hired as teachers. So, before pursuing this course it is worth knowing whether one has the aptitude to make a difference in this field or not. Thus, aspirants wanting to pursue a B.Ed course need to ensure that they possess the below mentioned skills:

B.Ed. Admission Procedure:

The admission to the Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] curriculum in colleges in India is conducted mainly through entrance exams conducted by the states and institutions for granting admission to students. Candidates are advised to go through the different procedures of admission to the university he/she is opting for. Aspirants are required to apply in an entrance test organized by the various public and private institutes and universities for admission in various teaching institutions attached to it. Admission in the same is granted according to the rank of the candidate in the entrance exam. Usually, the examination is conducted in the month of May or June for which the forms are available online.

There are private as well as public schools along with a requirement of teachers in coaching institutes and tuition centers. So, this leads to a higher demand for teachers across.
  2. Counselors: Modern world, plenty of choices, confusion, and problems. That is why we need to have numerous ways of handling them. When choosing a career path or some sort, of course, we seldom have any support from the experts. To ensure that the right kind of guidance and understanding is provided in a professional manner, the concept of counseling got introduced to the world.
  3. Educational Researcher: Educational Researchers work in universities and colleges and their areas of expertise include preparing research projects and development of research programs. One has the liberty to work in this area as per their subject. With B.Ed. and a little experience in research, one can become an educational researcher.
  4. Educational Administrator: All the hiring of the new teachers and educational staff is administered by a teacher only and that is someone we refer to as an Education administrator. In schools, we do not have the HR department so all the staffing is done by one of the teachers. Educational Administrators also have the opportunity to take on the responsibility as a Dean in a College or University.
  5. Government Jobs: You also have the option of appearing in any of the government exams. There are some state as well as center level exams which are only meant for teachers. TET (Teacher Eligibility Test), CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test), NET (National Eligibility Test), STET (State Level Eligibility Test or State Eligibility Test.), TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher), PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) are examples of the government exams which the B.Ed. graduates are eligible for.

B.Ed. is a course to nurture and improve skills so that you can learn the skills of teaching and you will be also given training for how to teach the students so that they can easily teach them in a way that they are able to understand.
