CBSE Syllabus 2020 Changed: Check Now

Though the country is under a lockdown situation, the number of patients affected by the COVID-19 infection is not getting improved much. While some of the states have shown incredible results in having control over the situation, the others are still suffering to control the rising number of patients.

Different corporate companies and other firms are making their employees work from home but it has become a bit difficult for the schools to keep on the teaching process. Schools are closed and hence no classroom teachings are now possible and this is actually hampering the annual session of the schools. This can be a problem for the students as the syllabus will not get completed in time and hence they will not be able to score well in the upcoming exams.

In the period of COVID-19 breakdown, students are struggling with their studies so it is necessary to not only keep our children busy but also to maintain continuity of their learning in their new classes with alternative solutions. In this context, NCERT has developed an Alternative Academic Calendar for all the stages of school education.

Hence, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to change the syllabus for the classes of 9 to 12 for the year 2020 – 2021. This new syllabus will be designed in such a way that the teachers can complete the syllabus in a much shorter time for the students. The students have to appear for the exam to get promoted to the next class and hence the teachers are provided with training as per which they can teach the students and complete the syllabus on time.

The decision of the change was taken immediately after the HRD Minister ordered various educational organizations across India to get a change in calendars and syllabus. Soon NCERT came into action to make the changes possible in the syllabus and now CBSE has planning to do same so that it can become much convenient for the teachers as well as the students to complete the academic syllabus on time.

The Change in Syllabus:

There will be some changes in CBSE syllabus:

  • CBSE conducted a webinar with some of the senior teachers where the discussion was made about getting a reduction in the syllabus for the academic year 2020 – 2021 for the lockdown situations due to the COVID-19 cases in the country.
  • The reduced syllabus will help the teachers and the students to complete the syllabus comfortably within a short period of time due to the lockdown situation currently.
  • The teachers are also ordered to make sure that the kids are not bored while they are at home.
  • The teachers should provide the students with some creative activities that can keep them engaged and also can be productive for them even when they are not able to access the teaching sessions in the classroom.
  • NCERT has prescribed the teachers to have weekly activities for the students depending upon the chapters and themes in the syllabus.

  • NCERT has released links of audiobooks, radio programs, and even some downloadable video programs that can be helpful for the students in preparing the subjects for the year-end examinations.
  • The new academic calendar is not just for the students but also for the teachers so that they can teach the students better by interacting with them in a better way.
  • The teachers are provided with guidelines on teaching through social media and also other technology.
  • The teachers are also asked to have conversations with the parents to help them guide so that the kids can be taught with the use of technology.
  • It is also prescribed about what are the things that need to be done if the student does not have an internet connection and there is no option for the teachers to connect through social media.
  • The changes in the syllabus and the new academic calendar will be released through the services of DTH channels along with video conferencing.

Meanwhile, the new changes are in progress and the final outcome should come up soon.  Hopefully, this will be a help for the students in completing the syllabus in time by staying safe at home.
